High Desert Challenge at Willow Springs Raceway

This Saturday I joined the Nimmo Machine pit crew for the High Desert Challenge at Willow Springs Raceway.
Les is the driver, owner, mechanic, and crew chief of the Nimmo Machine #45 1967 Ford Mustang racecar. His sons, Mark and Chad, round out the team.
The weekend’s highlight was the Twilight Enduro. Individual drivers complete as many […]

Ford Chevy Challenge 2006 at Willow Springs

This Sunday morning I was out the door at just past seven to join Chad and the Nimmo clan for the Vintage Auto Racing Association’s 2006 Ford Chevy Challenge at Willow Springs Raceway.

Toyota to Discontinue Scion XB and XB

Autoblog reports that the Scion xA and xB will be dead by December with two new models by Spring. Good thing I was able to sell my xB in August before this news broke!
I expect a new xB model that’s larger, better equiped, and priced in the high $10,000s.

Scion xB for Sale

I listed my Scion xB on eBay Motors today. CLEAN and low, low reserve.

I snapped the photos outside of a multi-million dollar home in Brentwood. Salesmanship!

Scion Evolution Celebration

On Saturday I drove my xB to the first anniversary of the Scion Evolution car club.
Compared to most Scion Evolution members, my xB (Toyota TRD 18″ rims and TYC rear taillights) looked positively stock, but in good spirits the guys let me join the lineup anyway. That’s me at the end.

I shadowed a […]

Saving Throw Against Bad Drivers

The D20 Stick Shift is one of the nerdiest car-mods ever. I want one.

New FJ Cruiser Unveiled Tomorrow

My car company just sent me an update — the new Toyota FJ Cruiser concept will be formally shown tomorrow. Looks like they’re serious about making a production model.

EDIT: The site has been updated with the video of the FJ press conference. Lame skit. Cool car.

Volkswagen Suicide Car Bomb Ad

There’s a new Volkswagen commercial online for the car makers non-US hatchback, the Polo. The company and their ad agency has denied sponsorship of the POLO. SMALL BUT TOUGH advert but the production value is high enough to raise suspicion.

Crazy About Pure 4×4s

It’s the time of year for auto shows. I’ll be skipping the LA Auto Show this year as last year was little more than a bunch of older production models with very few exceptions.
That’s not to say that there aren’t cool things to see.
I’m blown away by the Toyota’s FJ Cruiser concept revealed last […]

Scion xB Update

I sold the Maxima on Monday making this my first week driving the Scion xB on a daily basis.
The car is both incredibly fun and practical. The low profile rim/tire combo allows it to scoot around corners and through traffic. The mileage is awesome (31 city, 34 highway). I just filled the tank on […]
