When we arrived at the Apple Store last Friday the line snaked past the [empty] Helio store and down around the block. A half dozen security guards, the LAPD, and cheerful Starbucks employees were gathered around the front as ten people were allowed inside at a time.
We returned after 11 and the line had […]

I’ve been playing Justin Hall’s new Passively Multiplayer game for two months now. Unlike “active” MMOs, Hall’s project awards XP for daily web surfing, because as the site says, “I want XP for everything I do.”
Our Passively Multiplayer Online Game (”PMOG”) follows people as they surf the web, giving them experience points, levels, items and […]

Mike sent an email with a link to Conan O’Brien’s trip to Intel entitled “Where I Work.” I’ve been there and yes, it’s all true.

My Jaiku profile combines my public feeds — blog entries, twitter posts, music playlists, bike rides, and bookmarked links — and publishes them on a single page.
This allows me to share what I’m up to with friends and family automatically.
Will you Jaiku with me?
I’m updating my blog software this week. If you subscribe to the blog feed, you’ll need to update your bookmark/feed reader to my new feed. If you’re not interested in blog software you can skip the rest of this post.
After 800+ posts with Blogger I’m making the jump to WordPress.
In the past 6 […]

Yes, that’s an actual headline from a MSDN newsletter on Windows Vista!

Vista largely met […]

I’ve been trying to get Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 running on my six month old Dell XPS without any results. Here’s my steps so far:
Registered and downloaded the 32-bit Vista RC 1 .iso
Burned a .iso image, creating a Vista install DVD
Backed up all data to an external drive
Booted from Vista DVD
Formatted both Dell partitions
Began […]

The bicycle is one of mankind’s most simple and efficient machines. So it’s a little strange that my bike has more tech loaded onto it than does my car. Excessive? Perhaps. Cool? Most definitely.
This month I added a Garmin eTrex Legend C GPS on my handlebars alongside my Polar heart rate monitor. The […]
It was too cold to ride today here in Los Angeles so I spent a few hours contributing to Wikipedia, “the communal encyclopedia that anyone can edit.”
I’ve been using Wikipedia at work at least once a day, and in the “give a penny, take a penny” spirit of collaborative publishing, it was my turn […]

This month I started using del.icio.us to manage my bookmarks.
Del.icio.us allows me to quickly create and organize hundreds of links in a way that’s independent of any particular browser or PC. What’s more — using simple Javascript I can syndicate del.icio.us links on my website (see new right hand column). Incredible!
The next step […]
